Do modular classrooms (also referred to as "portables") in any way reduce the quality of a student's learning?
  1. There is no evidence that modular classrooms in any way reduce the quality of a child’s learning.  The teachers and staff are obviously the key drivers in a quality education, not the building.  We agree that our existing neighborhood schools need some safety and modest expansion upgrades, but they are otherwise fundamentally sound.
  2. Scarborough Schools have used some modular classrooms for more than 25 years now with no measurable impact on student learning.
