Do modular classrooms (also referred to as "portables") in any way reduce the quality of a student's learning?
- There is no evidence that modular classrooms in any way reduce the quality of a child’s learning. The teachers and staff are obviously the key drivers in a quality education, not the building. We agree that our existing neighborhood schools need some safety and modest expansion upgrades, but they are otherwise fundamentally sound.
- Scarborough Schools have used some modular classrooms for more than 25 years now with no measurable impact on student learning.
